The Process of rendering Dude was as refreshing as it was exciting. In striving to capture the personality of Dude through the storytelling in this piece. My client and I agreed on a more illustrative approach to the design of the subject:  Dude pinning down a rat, while smoking a cuban! After landing on a sketch that we were both enthusiastic about pursuing, I worked through capturing a likeness via a  grayscale painting (or grisaille) of Dude in his signature pose. The process of painting colors allowed for fun and expressive brushwork paired with a simple, warm color palette, accented by pops of blue. Thanks again Kathy, this piece was a blast!
