The Process of rendering “Grimmy and Santi” was a fun exploration of mixed media. Through a digital sketch, I landed on a fantastical scene of the two situated in exotic foliage with the pair in a pose that accentuated the two’s dynamics. After settling on elements that my client and I both got excited by, I moved forwards with a watercolor underpainting to establish the major forms. After liking where the process led, Coats of gouache helped bring out the subtlety of the texture and glossiness of detail elements. It was awesome to get to try out new media, thanks Richard!
