The Process of Rendering “Leeloo” was a joyful exploration of space and color. I began by exploring compositions and color palettes based on photography provided for the final painting. After some playful examples, my client and I landed on the composition of Leeloo laying in bed with hair to one side. For this painting, I took an alla prima approach, laying down colors directly onto the initial sketch. I found myself enraptured in capturing the unique character of Leeloo’s adorable features, and rendering out details to the last strand of hair. This piece was a load of fun, thanks again Bonnie!
